St. Patrick's Day Recipes 2024

Wishing you all a very Happy St Patrick's Day! Erin Go Braugh - Ireland Forever! Here are a few easy Irish recipes you may want to add to your menu:

Oatmeal Milkshake - Batido de Avena

Oatmeal is often served hot with deliciously fragrant cinnamon on cool autumn morning, a comfort food most in the Northeast USA associate with cooler seasons. So what do you do when you have a hankering for oatmeal for breakfast, smack dab in the middle of summer... Why you make a batido de avena, an oatmeal milkshake of course! Nutritious, filling, and tasty; it satisfies the craving for oatmeal without the heat.

This simple oatmeal milkshake is perfectly cool with just the right amount of cinnamon for hot summer mornings.

Here is the recipe for Refreshing Oatmeal Milkshake:

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients:

2 cups Milk
1 cup Quick Cooking Oats
1 Tbsp Sugar
2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground Cloves
2 cups Ice

Directions:

1. Add the dry oats, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves to a blender and blend to a fine powder.

 2. Pour the milk and ice into the blender and process.

Serve with additional Ice cubes.

ENJOY!

  1. Such a simple idea and very clever. I can't stand porridge (as it is known here) because I think it tastes like wallpaper paste but I think if I were to make this in the form of a milkshake, it would be much more palatable. I have pinned this for future reference.

    1. Hi Fiona! I completely understand that. You can really spice this up, one of my favorite things to add is chai spices then it tastes like iced chai.
